For Lexie and Connor’s summer wedding in the Hamptons, wedding designer Jennifer Tansley of Soirees and Revelry drew inspiration from the venue name itself, Canoe Place Inn, with this canoe paddle seating chart. When Jenn approached me about the feasibility of handlettering on boat paddles, it was an immediate yes – I love working with non-traditional materials! The wood paddles were custom painted white with subtle color accents to complement the soft pink and peach color palette of the wedding. I hand lettered each guest’s name on the paddles in a light grey ink. The names were listed alphabetically rather than by table number to ensure that guests could find their name easily. The “Canoe Feel the Love” header in a classic, retro blue is a clever and fun nod to the venue name and the vintage blue Corvette, tying everything together and creating a truly cohesive design. Loose, flowing florals and greenery at the base of the seating chart help soften the edges and complete the display. The result? A beautiful and elegant seating chart that perfectly complements the venue and wedding aesthetic.
