As a professional calligrapher, I’ve had the pleasure of working on some pretty fun and unique projects. One of my favorite things that I get to do are on-site events. Also called live events or brand activations, on-site events involve me coming into your store or to your event to provide live personalization services for your guests. I’m hired by brands and businesses to offer calligraphy, lettering, engraving or hot foiling as a complimentary service to their guests. From calligraphing gift tags and notecards to go with items guests have purchased, to engraving or lettering directly on the products themselves, on-site personalization immediately creates happy customers! Happy customers are repeat customers. And who doesn’t want that?
Trust me, everyone loves seeing their name in pretty writing, especially when it’s done right in front of them. It is so fun to see – and hear! – people’s reactions when they watch as I write their name or a special message with a dip pen and ink or my hand engraver. The “oohs” and “ahhs” are for real. It generates so much delight! Brand activations produce excitement in your store or at your event – most people are not expecting to see a person creating live art when they arrive. In this digital age, it really makes an impact when guests see something that is created by hand for them by a real human being. Often heard at live events are things like “I bought another sweater just so you could make another gift tag for me,” “this is so cool – I’ve never seen anything like this before!” and “how long are you here? I want to come back so I can pick out a perfume bottle for you to engrave for my girlfriend.”
People can choose to shop anywhere – businesses need to set themselves apart in the marketplace and show customers that they truly value their choice of spending their money and time with them. Everyone wants to feel appreciated. Create brand loyalty by treating your guests to something exceptional like luxurious calligraphy and hand engraving.
